"Images have the ability to reshape perceptions, expand reality, empower, evolve society and communicate in ways beyond words.

Imagery has healing capacity, stimulating our senses and awakens the mind to new worlds and dimensions.

They have the ability to create a movement, a collective, a following, a trend. How do we wish to use this extremely powerful tool?

Visuals are our universal language, no language is needed to feel with the heart."

The three series shown in "Under A Tilted Roof" are representative of Anna Runefelt's practice of collaborating with other artists, such as dancer Steph Elstob and costume designer Shirley Nette Williams. The exhibited works show the creative input of the whole team, as each collaborator play their part in realising the photographer's vision. Combining graceful yet powerful movements from dance with meticulous contemporary costume design displaying different materials, colours and textures, the end result is a testament to Anna's creative leadership as well as her artistic capabilities for directing and capturing striking compositions.

Different locations in Malta and Gozo were chosen as settings for this photographic collection, being the places where the artist has been spurred on in her personal journey of self-discovery.

"Some visual concepts and imagery appear when I need a deeper understanding of myself and the world around me. This imagery works as a form of unique and conscious image mapping, that guides and aids in my personal growth. It's like a visual diary, that has psychological and universal concepts translated into pictures, with dreams and an "active imagination" as an extremely strong source of inspiration".

Malta Portfolio Project

Anna is presently working on expanding her portfolio of works through a visual expedition exploring different locations around the Maltese Islands. The intended photographic collection will showcase the photographer's unique perspective on Malta's unique heritage, its hidden treasures, splendid architecture and rich history.

As an artistic project, this will bring to life local environments and buildings in new and fascinating visual treatments, covering themes that trace the natural, cultural and industrial heritage of Malta.

The Malta Portfolio Project is a visionary initiative aimed at inspiring Maltese residents and visitors alike, to view the island with 'new eyes'. Anna welcomes opportunities to collaborate with the local community, and is currently looking for supporters and partners in this ongoing project.
